American Heart Association, BLS for Healthcare Provider:

The AHA’s BLS course reinforces the healthcare providers’ understanding of the importance of early CPR, and defibrillation, performing the basic steps of CPR, use of an AED and relieving choking and the role of each link in the Chain of Survival.

Course Outline:

• 1-Rescuer CPR & AED for adult, child and infant.

• 2-Rescuer CPR & AED for adult, child and infant.

• Bag-mask ventilation techniques for adult, child and infant

• Critical concepts of high-quality CPR

• Differences between adult, child and infant rescue techniques

• Key changes in Basic Life Support, reflecting the new science from the 2010 AHA Guidelines for CPR

• Relief of choking for adult, child and infant

• Rescue breathing for adult, child and infant

• The AHA Chain of Survival

• CPR with an advanced airway This is an introduction to the compression to ventilation rate and ratio for a  patient who has an advanced airway in place.


About Mr. Jim Rybicki:  Mr. Rybicki is an Environmental Health and Safety Professional with over 20 years training experience in First Aid and CPR.  Jim holds instructor certifications for both the American Heart Association (AHA) and the American Health and Safety Institute (ASHI). Along with an Associate in Science degree from Chaffey College in Fire Technology; Professional Firefighter, a Safety Trained Supervisor (STS) certification from CCHEST, Jim holds many other certificates from OSHA, National Safety Council, and FEMA among others.
