"How to Think like a Radiologist: Improve your 2D/3D Diagnostic Skills"

Participants will learn the importance of developing an analytical strategy to systematically review 2D and 3D radiographs. They will get an overview of different applications of CBCT in different clinical scenarios. They will become familiar with radiographic appearance of normal anatomical structures, their variations and the appearance of common oral and maxillofacial abnormalities. They will also become familiar with importance of selection criteria in choosing different imaging modalities in everyday dental practice and will obtain information on limitations of CBCT and its artifacts.

About Dr. Lavasani:
Dr. Setareh Lavasani is a board certified Oral & Maxillofacial Radiologist. She is a full time Assistant professor and the director of Oral Radiology & Advanced Imaging at Western University of Health Sciences, College of Dental Medicine in Pomona, California. She completed both her specialty certificate and masters in oral & maxillofacial radiology and dental diagnostic Sciences from the University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio. Dr. Lavasani is the co-author of multiple text book chapters including the first interactive/digital Oral Radiology textbook; Fundamentals of Oral Radiology and is an editor and associate editor for multiple peer review journals such as OOOO and Journal of the Lebanese Dental Association. She has presented at numerous national and International scientific meetings and is a frequent presenter at the California Dental Association (CDA), UCLA School of Dentistry AEGD residency program and local study clubs. She is a fellow at the prestigious Global Dental Implant Academy (FGDIA). Her areas of interest are applications of 3D CBCT imaging in dentistry, Radiographic Interpretation and Radiation biology. She is an active member of multiple standing committees at the American Academy of Oral & Maxillofacial Radiology, Member of the American Board of Oral and Maxillofacial Radiology, TriCounty Dental Society and The American Educators Association.
