Advances in digital technology have increased prosthetic treatment options for the completely edentulous patient, Despite the benefits offered by dental implant retained or supported dentures, conventional complete dentures continue to be a popular choice because of cost effectiveness/affordability. The introduction of computer-engineering in the design and fabrication of complete dentures has added another option for the clinician and the patient to choose from. This presentation will discuss clinical outcomes and applications associated with computer-engineered (digital) complete dentures focusing on the advantages and disadvantages of this fairly new and rapidly advancing technology offering research and experience based insight. 

Learning objectives: 

•Understand the clinical outcomes associated with computer-engineered complete dentures
• Understand and apply unique conversations with computer-engineered complete dentures
•Recognize significant advantages, dis-advantages, and complications associated with computer-engineered complete dentures


About Dr. Kattadiyil: 

Dr. Mathew Kattadiyil received his BDS degree from the College of Dental Surgery, Kasturba Medical College in Manipal, India. In 1992, Dr. Kattadiyil completed his MDS in Prosthodnotics from the College of Dental Surgery, KMC, Manipal where he then served as a full-time faculty member in the Department of Prosthodontics. He, then, went on to receive his professional certificate in Prosthodontics and his MS degree from Loma Linda University.Dr. Kattadiyil is a Diplomate of the American Board of Prosthodontics and a Fellow of the American College of Prosthodontics. He is currently the Director of the Advanced Specialty Education Program in Prosthodontics and Professor of Restorative Dentistry and Removable Prosthodontics at Loma Linda University School of Dentistry.
